TEXAS BORN & RAISED

I grew up in a small town south of Houston called Sugar Land. My childhood was anything but average. At the age of 7, my older brother was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This quickly progressed, and by the time he was 10, he was permanently bound to a wheelchair. While my brother was immobile, he never let that slow him down. Since I could remember, we both had a need for speed and adventure. My father grew up racing motorcycles and sprint cars which carried over into our childhood. When I was 5, my dad got me my first dirt bike. My brother and I were hooked, motocross instantly became our passion. While my brother was unable to ride, he was able to enjoy the sport with a front row view. As I got older, I started racing competitively. Every weekend the family would load up the motorhome and head to the races. Whether it was in town, across Texas or across the nation, we were there racing. I gained major sponsors and even wrote articles for popular racing publications.

As my brother grew older, his condition worsened. When it was time for me to enter high school, my family made the decision to homeschool me. This enabled me to help more with my brother's needs as well as excel my racing career. This opportunity also allowed me to shadow my parents in the family business. While they had once run one of the largest auto body shops in the state, they sold the business and developed the property into commercial rental units. This sparked my initial interest in real estate.

Traveling from state to state racing, I gained an array of friends from all over. One summer day while racing in East Texas, I met a boy that would unwittingly be in my life forever. After dating long distance for several years, he made a move to Houston to pursue his passion for aviation. We’ve been inseparable ever since.

My brother inevitably succumbed to his disease in his early twenties. As I got older, my focus shifted from racing to developing my real estate career. I learned that a local RE/MAX office was looking to hire a new receptionist. I figured if I wanted to be in real estate, what better way to start than at the front desk. I got the job and immediately immersed myself, learning anything and everything I could about the business. After a year at the front, I was ready for the next step. I started studying, and at the age of 21, I obtained my real estate license. I joined a productive team and again immersed myself, learning the ins and outs of residential real estate. I had been practicing real estate in the suburbs of Houston for about a year when life’s door of opportunity opened. My husband received a job offer flying for a private company in Fort Worth. This was a move that we felt we needed to take. So in June 2012, we packed up our things and headed north. Since then, we've made Fort Worth our home. I quickly joined a local RE/MAX office and dove in head first studying the local market and area extensively.

As an adult, I still have a need for adventure. My husband and I still maintain our bikes and ride from time to time. We enjoy fitness, wake boarding, playing adult league kickball and volunteering at the local Humane Society of North Texas. We have a 2-year-old Goldendoodle named Ginger who is practically our child. We look forward to calling Fort Worth home forever.
